An ever-popular group of shrubs due to a wide-ranging variety of flower colours and shapes, Hydrangeas can regularly be found as recipients of the RHS ‘Award of Garden Merit’ with good reason.

One of the classic forms of Hydrangeas, Mopheads grow with stunning dome-shaped flower clusters, cultivated for vivid colours. In contrast to this, ‘Lacecap’ varieties of Hydrangea whilst still having large, vivid flowers, have flowers heads which are flatter in nature, with a central cluster of smaller flowers being surrounded by larger flowers.

Originating in colder climates of northern Asia, varieties of the ‘paniculata’ Hydrangeas are particularly hardy and more than suitable to survive the harshest of winters in the UK, whilst still providing seasonal interest with flower heads that often blush later in the season.
