A hardy and versatile group of plants, Euonymus can be used in virtually any normal garden setting, often to add a splash of colour with varying degrees of gold or creamy silver edging to the foliage of many of the trouble-free varieties we sell.

With generally a fairly slow growth rate, Euonymus (which is also known as Spindle) can be maintained pretty easily and shouldn't need more than one trim a year for most varieties. Whilst they prefer a sunny position, particularly for encouraging a bright display from flowering varieties or those with variegation to the leaves, Euonymus will still be happy in shaded spot without any fuss.

The leaf size and relatively thick density of many Euonymus varieties means it's well suited to a formal garden setting with precise clipping, and can even be topiarised like Box hedging, making it a rather ornate hedging shrub. For more info, see our Euonymus Guide here.
