Mixed Native Hedging Blackthorn Based

Our Blackthorn based mix for bare root native hedging is primarily Blackthorn which is ideal for heavy soils or coastal/windy position with a smaller % each of Field Maple, Hazel. Bird Chery and Dog Rose plus Hawthorn (the opposite to the main component). These species have been selected to provide a long period of interest for humans (in flower, berries, leaf shape and colour) as well as varying wildlife foods and shelter.

*Different % mixes can apply to different root size packs due to specific availabilities in those sizes. Where certain species are unavailable in a particular bare root size, they wiill be substituted with extra bare roots from the remaining available species.

Native hedging is a popular and economical hedging choice often used for field/farming borders and brings a touch of the British countryside to your garden.
