Hawthorn Easy Hedge Elements offer an economical and time-saving instant hedging solution compared to standard instant hedging troughs. They need less ground preparation, are lightweight, easy and quick to install giving you a complete hedge look in no time. Produced in a new type of growth system that encourages the fine root production necessary for healthy growth, Hawthorn Easy Hedge Elements have a high planting success rate, plus you get beautifully straight and ready-trimmed hedges too.
Supplied in 1m long sections of hedge, it's easy to work out how many sections you need to order. Each purchase comes with a comprehensive planting kit that contains all the specific equipment needed to install the hedge and ensure healthy growth and development. The kit also includes easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions to guide you. Hawthorn hedging page Each Easy Hedge instant hedging element weighs less than 20kg compared to an average of 35kg for standard instant hedging troughs, making it easier to handle, even for one person.
Installing a row of Easy Hedge elements can be a DIY job done by one person, however if you wish you can ask a local landscaper to do this for you. Each purchase comes with a full planting kit including detailed, step-by-step instructions. Each kit covers 5m of hedging and contains the following:
- Wooden poles 5cm x 150cm (to be placed every 3m)
- 1 x length of dripping hose
- 1 x length of wire
- Fence staples and cable ties
- Instruction leaflet.
Equipment to be provided by customer- Spade
- Wheelbarrow (if needed)
- Mallet or post knocker for wooden posts
- Gardening gloves
Before planting1) Each Easy Hedge Element's root system will come wrapped in stretch foil to retain moisture during transport and prevent damage. The foil should be removed before the units are planted.
2) Before starting to dig the shallow trench for planting, loosen the soil first to around a depth of 30cm. This will allow the fine roots to easily seek out water and nutrients to establish quicker
Hawthorn needs to be trimmed after flowering in the Summer and again in the Autumn.
Free delivery is available on most orders (except Premium Products) providing they meet the minimum spend criteria for the size of box or pallet. Pallet deliveries and large box deliveries for tall plants are indicated by icons on the product table listings. Delivery costs and minimum order details for each packaging type are as follows:

There are some exceptions to the standard delivery pricing structure, which relate to deliveries to more remote areas, overseas, or extremely tall or large plants requiring specialist delivery - for more information see the Delivery Information Page. (Please note that due to new Brexit rules, we are currently unable to export to both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.).
Delivery Time - Please note that delivery times are currently 2-7 days excluding bank holidays. *Some troughs, trees and premium products may take up to 14 days delivery. We are working through existing orders as quickly as possible to deliver new orders within this timescale.
It's Convenient - no need to wait in all day to sign, we don't need a signature (the odd, larger order may require a signature but will be delivered at a mutually agreeable time).

Nominated Day Delivery
Choose a delivery day that suits you with our new Nominated Day Delivery option at checkout. Whilst our standard no signature delivery means you don't need to take time away from other committments to receive your order, we understand that there are times our customers want to make sure they are present to accept delivery, either to plant straight away or to store somewhere safe and out of the way until you're ready to plant.
For an additional fee, you can make sure that your order arrives on the exact day you want it. Please note that this is additional charge to all qualifying orders, including those above the free delivery threshold for Standard Delivery.
Our Nominated Day Delivery is available year-round on the weekdays Tuesdays to Fridays, excluding the day after any bank holiday.
