 | Cherry Laurel is a vigorous, dense evergreen shrub with large, glossy, bright green leaves, which makes an ideal hedge. It produces modest white flowers in spring and red berries in autumn, but both are insignificant and really it is chosen for its vibrant foliage.
Its growth rate is relatively fast at approx 30/60cm which makes it a very economical way to achieve a good height of evergreen hedge. It should be trimmed to shape in spring or autumn.
Cherry Laurel is hardy and is very easy to grow, including in dense shade, but is not the most suitable choice for seaside gardens or very alkaline soil. Like other Laurels, the leaves and berries are harmful if eaten.
Prices shown are the price per plant. Recommended planting densities for pot grown and root ball plants are shown but this is very much a matter of choice and you can increase or reduce the density depending on your level of patience. With bare roots, 3 per metre is adequate, 5 per metre is good and 7 per metre, planted in a double staggered row is idea. Cell grown and pot grown Cherry Laurel plants are available all year round. Bare root plants are only available from November to late March/early April. Root Ball plants are only available from mid-October to mid-April
