Euonymus japonicus 'Ovatus Aureus' Hedge Plants Description

Euonymus japonicus 'Ovatus Aureus' is very popular for all sorts of positions because it provides year round interest and is well suited to all positions (including cold, windy, coastal, exposed) and virtually all soils (all but the wettest). It provides the best variegation when grown in full sun but will also tolerate partial shade.

The leaves are broad and oval with dark green centres, fading to light green and then with bright yellow margins. Young leaves are generally golden yellow.

Pruning Advice

Euonymus Ovatus Aureus will grow to 2m but is very tolerant of clipping so it can just as easily be kept at a more moderate height. To keep your Euonymus hedge bushy, tip trim the leading and main lateral shoots in May and then tidy up again in September.
