We recommend trimming off the flower heads of your Deschampsia cespitosa 'Goldtau' Grass in late winter before any new growth begins to appear, and trimmed right back if the plant begins to look particularly tatty or unruly. In warmer climates, it has a tendency to self-seed freely, so it is advisable to remove unwanted seedlings on a regular basis.

Often known as tufted hair grass, Deschampsia cespitosa 'Goldtau' has long green leaves with feathery flowers that shimmer like gold in the wind as they catch the light. Also silvery, reddish-brown flower spikes appear from early to late summer. Its clumping growing habit means that Deschampsia 'Goldtau' can look great in several places within a garden, either alone amongst other perennial plants, or in groups as a border feature.
A mound-forming, evergreen grass that's particularly versatile, as it thrives in both sun and light shade and the flowers persist well into autumn.
