Description

Ajuga reptans 'Black Scallop' also known as Bugle or Bugleweed 'Black Scallop' is a super shade-loving, flowering perennial. Perfect for shady borders or corners of the garden, Ajuga 'Black Scallop' has striking deep-purple almost black leaves and develops short, deep-blue flower spikes at the end of spring and into summer, injecting even more eye-catching colour to what can be slightly darker spaces.

This evergreen, hardy perennial is low-growing and matforming making it an excellent ground cover plant. It is slow-growing and reaches a maximum height and spread of 50cm x 1m, preferring partial or full-shade and moist loamy or clay type soils, even coping well with poorly-drained soil!

Adding year-round colour to your garden in challenging positions, this striking plant is also popular with bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators who are drawn to its lovely blue flower spires.
