Description
Delphinium 'Black Knight' sometimes referred to as 'Black Knight Group' is a real showstopper for the garden. Planted at the back of the border or in flower beds, these towering perennials grow large, upright flower spires adorned with vibrant indigo-purple flowers with characteristic black centres. Deep-cut green foliage forms an attractive clump at the base of the plant. Reaching heights of around 5-6ft or more in ideal conditions, Delphinium 'Black Knight' adds a dramatic backdrop and vertical display to any garden planting scheme and the flowers are simply adored by bees and butterflies.
Plant in rich, fertile, free-draining soil in full sun, in a sheltered location. Stake the young plants to provide support and avoid flopping and ensure regular watering. An annual mulch will also help to encourage strong growth.
As soon as stems and their blooms become spent, cut back and you will encourage a second bloom on this striking statement plant.
