Description
Achillea 'White Beauty' is also known commonly as Yarrow 'White Beauty'. It is a pure-white flowering semi-evergreen perennial bearing abundant flattened clusters of flowers on upright stems in summer over green fern-like leaves and is known to be drought tolerant.
Recipient of the RHS Award of Plants for Pollinators, Achillea 'White Beauty' flowers from July through to September and is adored by pollinating insects who use the flattened flowerheads to indulge in nectar and pollen but also to land and rest on. The seed heads also provide food for birds and the blooms make excellent dried flower arrangements.
This winter-hardy perennial is ideal planted mid-border, growing to an average of 75cm height by 60cm spread. It is also suitable for large pots or containers and looks pretty planted with flower spire perennials such as Salvia or Lupins for a contrasting shape or pretty fluttery flowering plants such as Gaura
Plant Achillea 'White Beauty' in full sun in well-drained soil. It doesn't like wet conditions so do ensure the soil is free draining and add grit if necessary. Cut back to the ground or remove any untidy foliage in early spring and deadhead spent blooms to encourage further flowering.
