Description

Known as the marsh violet, Vila palustris is a dainty wildflower that produces pale lilac to violet flowers in spring above a mat of rounded green leaves. It thrives in damp, cool conditions.

Perfect for wildlife-friendly gardens, pond edges, or damp meadows, Viola palustris is loved by pollinators and adds natural charm to wetter areas of the garden.

Plant in moist, humus-rich soil in partial shade or dappled sunlight. It will also grow in sun if the soil remains wet. Typically reaching 5–10cm in height with a spread of up to 20cm, it’s a low-maintenance choice for naturalistic, self-seeding planting schemes.

Supplied in a 9cm pot for planting at any time of the year.
