Description
Tilia platyphyllos ‘Rubra’ is an attractive deciduous lime tree, best known for its vivid red young shoots that provide excellent winter interest. In spring and summer, it produces large, heart-shaped green leaves that create a dense, leafy canopy, followed by clusters of small, fragrant yellow flowers that are highly attractive to bees and other pollinators.
With its upright growth habit and ornamental bark colour, ‘Rubra’ is ideal for parks, avenues, large gardens, and landscape planting where year-round interest and wildlife value are desired. Hardy, reliable, and tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions, this variety is well suited to UK gardens and larger planting schemes.
