Description
Salvia nemorosa 'Mainacht', common name Wood Sage 'Mainacht, is a compact perennial bearing long spires or racemes or deep violet flowers in summer, over dark-green scented foliage. This lovely sage plant will attract pollinators in droves providing nectar and pollen so is fantastic for wildlife gardens and is compact enough to suit any garden space.
Grow in moist but well drained soil except clay, in a full sun position in any location. This extremely hardy clump-forming perennial will return and flower reliably year on year giving a vivid pop of colour and height to beds, borders and planters.
Salvia 'Mainacht' is fairly slow growing and only grows to a maximum of 1m in height and 50cm wide. Watch out for the usual garden pests such as slugs and snails and ensure it's not overwatered. No pruning is required as such, simply remove the spent flower spikes to prolong flowering.
