Description

Cistus purpureus is more commonly called Purple-Flowered Rock Rose and is a small evergreen, bushy shrub. In summer, simple, five-petalled flowers in purple-pink with a deep-pink coloured spot to the base and sunny yellow centres cover the plant. The green leaves are narrow and slightly arching with a rippled edge.

Plant your Cistus purpureus in well-drained soil in a full sun, sheltered position, ideally west or south-facing. This versatile little shrub will even grow in poor soil too as long as the other conditions are right.

Cistus purpureus will grow to a maximum of 1m height and spread and is low maintenance and pest-free, ideal for inexperienced or experienced gardeners alike, or for busy folks!
