Flowering Cherry Royal Burgundy Ornamental Tree 125/150cm 10L Pot Prunus serrulata 'Royal Burgundy'
In stock
Prunus serrulata 'Royal Burgundy'
Prunus 'Royal Burgundy', commonly known as Purple Leaved Flowering Cherry or Cherry 'Royal Burgundy', has deep wine-coloured, glossy foliage which contrasts beautifully with the pastel pink, ruffled double flowers that appear in early spring. The attractive foliage retains its deep purple/red tones until autumn when the leaves brighten to become a wonderfully vivid scarlet. Extended seasonal interest comes from the bronzed, gently exfoliating bark which adds winter colour to the garden.Growing to a height and spread of 5 x 3 metres in 20 years, this small, gently spreading cherry variety makes a superb feature tree with seasonal interest throughout the year. Prunus 'Royal Burgundy' can be grown in all but very wet or chalky soils and being pot grown can be planted at any time of the year. Although it is possible to leave your Prunus 'Royal Burgundy' tree to its own devices, if you prune it for the first few years it will create a more balanced branch framework.
