This Oleaster (Elaeagnus ebbingei) fresh pleached tree is a hardy and attractive species offering reliable year-round screening due to its evergreen foliage. Small, lightly fragrant, creamy-white flowers, bloom in autumn followed by small orange fruits in spring. These unusually timed displays add a unique seasonal interest to your garden. Important: Large, heavy product requiring specialist delivery. Delivery is via large lorry – we will contact you to arrange delivery. Lifting equipment will also be needed to unload this product. Fresh Pleached Tree Information
The term 'pleached' refers to trees that are trained to form a screen of branches and foliage with a single straight stem. Planted in rows at set distances, pleached trees will form an elevated 'green wall' that can be ideal as a green alternative to high fencing. Pleached trees are often used to screen unsightly buildings and can be grown above an existing wall or fence. Used in this way pleached trees can extend the height of a privacy screen to 3 metres or more. Rows of pleached trees are also an effective way of creating a shaded area for those warmer months.
Fresh pleached trees are the younger version of a mature pleached tree meaning that there is much less growth development on the cane structure. We supply fresh pleached trees as a cost-effective alternative to the mature pleached. However, your fresh pleached tree will still develop into the same quality and fullness of tree as a mature specimen.
Species Information
Oleaster is a sturdy evergreen with dark green leaves that have silver speckles and silver coloured underside. Its foliage looks particularly stunning when the wind blows, and the underside of the leaves is exposed. Unusually, in autumn, subtly fragrant white flowers develop and as spring comes around, small, bright-orange fruits appear.
Elaeagnus ebbingei is classified as being an excellent hedging plant for exposed sites and ideal for shady, dry or windy sites. It's also very pollution and drought tolerant. Conditions that are not ideal for Elaeagnus ebbingei are cold, wet or highly alkaline sites.
