Description
Choisya x dewitteana Greenfingers is a smaller, more compact form of Mexican Orange blossom, called 'Greenfingers' for the long, slim, deep-green leaves that give year-round interest to the garden. Throughout spring and summer this evergreen shrub produces a profusion of scrented, white and pink-tinted flowers. If you are lucky, you may even get a second flush of flowers in the autumn if you prune immediately after the summer flowering.
Choisya Greenfingers as with all Choisyas produces the most wonderful orange-like fragrance when in bloom so it's a lovely shrub to have near to a seating area or patio to take advantage of the citrusy scent. It is hardy in the UK unless we have a severe winter, and the flowers are enjoyed by a range of insects. It's also drought-tolerant once established.
Plant your Choisya Greenfingers in full sun in a sheltered location in well-drained soil of any type except clay. This shrub can grow to around 2m in height and spread, but is fairly slow-growing, so easy to maintain and keep to a far more compact size. Prune back by around 30cm after flowering to encourage a 2nd bloom and make sure to remove any damaged stems also.
This shrub is supplied in a 2L pot for planting any time of the year.
