Description
Luzula nivea, more commonly known as Snow Rush grass is a perennial evergreen grass with long, slim, deep-green leaves reaching around 30cm in length. Stems, upt o 60cm tall, emerge from the lightly-clumped foliage in early summer and are topped with clusters of tiny white flowers.
This ornamental grass is the perfect low-maintenance addition to a shady border as it thrives in full or partial shade, even liking those awkward north-facing gardens. It's also very hardy and doesn't mind being planted in a windy or exposed area. It's perfect for adding height, texture and movement to beds or borders and won't grow too large as to be overwhelming in any size garden, growing to around 1m tall and only 50cm wide.
Plant your Luzula nivea in any soil except chalky, ideally moist and well-draining. This lovely low-maintenance grass is super easy to look after, needing just moist soil, otherwise it needs no pruning and is resistant to disease making it a great option for inexperienced gardeners.
