'Big Blue' Lily-turf
Liriope muscari 'Big Blue' is a grass-like perennial plant featuring deep lilac flower spikes from late summer into autumn, over an evergreen mound of dark-green long slim leaves. This low growing, compact plant likes well-drained soil and actually prefers a more shady spot, even thriving in full shade. It will also grow in sunnier spots but only if the soil is moist.
Also called Big Blue Lily-turf, this small but characterful plant will only grow to around 30cm in height and 45cm spread so is ideal for smaller gaps in planting in those more awkward shady areas.
Liriope muscari 'Big Blue' is low maintenance only needing a tidy up of old or worn looking leaves in spring, by cutting them down to ground level. If you wish to lift the plant and divide, spring is also the time to do this.
