Description
A rich, deep violet-purple version of Vinca minor, this 'Atropurpurea' variety adds a splash of bold colour against its tidy evergreen foliage. It flowers reliably from spring to autumn and makes a lovely underplanting choice.
Vinca minor 'Atropurpurea' is easy-going and excellent for groundcover, thriving in shady areas and suppressing weeds as it spreads. It’s ideal for borders, banks, or trailing over low walls.
Grows anywhere but will flower more in sun, however it thrives in shade too and still produces flowers. As with other Vinca varieties, 'Atropurpurea' loves a well-drained soil, coping wonderfully in dry shade. It grows at a moderate rate reaching 10-15cm tall and up to 1m spread.
Not much is needed by way of any regular maintenance, just tidy with a light prune in spring to shape and refresh. Easy!
Supplied in a 9cm pot for planting at any time of the year.
