Description
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Pink' have large flowerheads, made up of clusters of deep pastel-pink flowers over glossy mid-green foliage. The flowers bloom throughout the summer months from around June onwards and are long-lasting. The showy, large blooms are highly attractive to bees and other beneficial pollinating insects and will look impressive and eye-catching in any garden.
Plant Hydrangea macrophylla 'Pink' in a sheltered location away from cold, drying winds in a sunny or partially shaded position for the best flowering. Hydrangea macrophylla 'Pink' shrubs prefer moist but well-drained soil. To keep the pink colouration, the soil should be kept slightly alkaline or the flowers can take on lilac or blue tones.
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Pink' are deciduous, bushy shrubs with a rounded shape. They will grow up to 2m height and spread but can be managed at a smaller size if pruned back each spring. By pruning back your Hydrangea macrophylla 'Pink' fairly hard in March/April and taking around a third of the plant out back to its base, it will encourage new, healthy shoots and increased flower production in the summer.
