What is a Fresh Pleached Tree?
The term 'pleached' refers to trees that are trained to form a screen of branches and foliage with a single strraight stem. The single stem of our pleached trees are between 1.8 and 2.2m tall. Planted in rows at set distances, they will form an elevated 'green wall' that can be ideal as a green alternative to high fencing. Pleached trees are often used to screen unsightly buildings and can be grown above an existing wall or fence. Used in this way pleached trees can extend the height of a privacy screen to 3 metres or more.
Fresh pleached trees are younger trees with less growth development on the cane head structure than fully mature versions. Being less mature, they are however more cost effective options but will grow into beautiful mature specimens with full, thick screens.
Important Note: This fresh pleached tree is deciduous, so it's important to understand that if purchased in autumn/winter, its initial appearance will be quite bare with the framework visible and limited branch cover. However, it will regain foliage in spring and will develop to form an impressive, full screen over time.
Species Information
Hornbeam pleached trees are an exceptionally popular variety of pleached, gracing many formal gardens and urban gardens alike. Similar to Beech but with a deeper veined leaf and a more defined, serrated edge, Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) has vibrant green foliage forming a fairly dense habit that is ideal for providing privacy screening and shade. Even through the autumn and winter months, Hornbeam leaves will turn brown but cover will be retained as some leaves can remain on the branches until new growth pushes through in the spring. This product is fairly unique in being one of the few pleached trees that is pot grown which has the advantage of being able to be planted at any time of year.
Delivery Information
Once an order has been placed, we will contact you to arrange delivery. Delivery of all pleached trees is via a large truck due to their size, shape and weight.
For more information around delivery, please call 01257 263 876 and ask for a pleached tree specialist. They will be able to advise on lorry type, access required and lifting equipment needed to help unload the trees. Free delivery is applicable on orders over £1500. Otherwise a £450 delivery charge applies.
Please note: We recommend that any moving or lifting equipment such as a forklift, is booked for a full day not part day, as we cannot guarantee what time the trees will arrive on site on the day of delivery.
Further information about delivery can be found via our Pleached Trees Information Guide or please call 01257 263 876 and speak to a member of our team who will be happy to advise you.
