Rubus idaeus 'Fallgold'
Rubus idaeus 'Fallgold' is an 'everbearing' or late cropping raspberry variety, allowing you to enjoy this much-loved berry for an extended period. Notably, this variety has an intriguing colour without any compromise on taste. The berries are sweet, juicy, and abundant, making them perfect for puddings, cakes, and ice creams. 'Fallgold' flowers from June to August each year, with fruits developing quickly afterwards. The flowers also serve as a great source of sustenance for bees and other wildlife.
This variety thrives in both containers and in the ground, offering versatility in where it can be located. Its vibrant colour makes it an attractive option for decorative purposes as well. 'Fallgold' prefers a moist, well-drained soil with a neutral to acidic pH and grows best in full sun, though it will also thrive in partial shade. This deciduous, fully hardy perennial shrub can reach a maximum height of 2.5 metres with a spread of 1.5 metres.
As an autumn fruiting, yellow raspberry, 'Fallgold' produces a deliciously sweet flavour. The medium to large golden berries are superb for desserts and freezing. The fruits are easy to pick, and the canes are sturdy and erect. The variety responds well to additional ground moisture during fruiting, which can result in even more luscious berries.
