Description
Kornus kousa chinensis 'China Girl' is a deciduous, vigorous, free-flowering Chinese Dogwood featuring dark-green leaves and white flowers with a green centre in spring. The flowers are followed by pink fruits in autumn and the oval leaves turn and take on fiery tones of red and orange for additional seasonal interest.
'China Girl' can be grown as a large shrub or small tree and is exceptionally low maintenance, naturally forming a pleasing shape. Its deep-green foliage is an excellent foil to the large white flowers which cover the foliage in abundance each summer while the leaves become the star of the show in autumn with their stunning autumnal colours.
Cornus kousa 'China Girl' can eventually grow to between 4 and 8m with a similar spread but is . It thrives in sun or partial shade in a sheltered location and needs a neutral to acidic well-drained soil.
If any pruning is needed to trim back, then do this in late winter or early spring before the plant comes out of dormancy.
