Pruning Advice
We recommend trimming your Carex oshimensis 'Evergold' Grass back at the end of summer or early autumn in order to remove any dead leaves, but otherwise it is very low maintenance like our other grasses.

Ornamental Grasses
Also known as Japanese sedge 'Evergold', Carex oshimensis 'Evergold' is most noted for its variegated foliage. A small, evergreen, ornamental grass, it forms low hummocks of striking dark green leaves with a contrasting central strip of creamy yellow. In mid to late spring it produces brown flowerspikes on long stems. It looks particularly effective planted with other ornamental grasses that have contrasting foliage or planted under trees. It is suited to coastal planting as it is salt tolerant. It prefers a sunny situation and moist well drained soil and benefits from being protected from fierce winter winds. It is quick to grow yet low growing so it soon reaches its maximum height and then becomes very low maintenance, requiring little by way of pruning.
