Description
With its big leaves, bold colour, and evergreen charm — Bergenia ‘Rotblum’ really earns its place in the garden. Its glossy, rounded leaves form a low mound of lush green, which turn warm red-bronze as temperatures drop. In spring, sturdy stems shoot up bearing vibrant magenta-pink flowers — a welcome burst of colour after winter.
A reliable plant, Bergenia cordifolia ‘Rotblum’ is fantastic for groundcover, especially in tricky spots where other plants might struggle. It’s easy-going, really hardy, and brings structure all year round. Early pollinators love the nectar-rich flowers, and the foliage stays tidy without much input at all, making it a great, low-maintenance option and ideal for inexperienced gardeners. Great for borders, banks, and shady corners.
Bergenia 'Rotblum' likes full sun or partial shade — it’s not fussy and it will grow in any spot, exposed or sheltered. Plant in any well-drained soil, including clay. This unique evergreen perennial grows at a moderate to fast rate and will reach a height and spread of 30-40cm tall and 40-60cm wide.
It doesn't need trimming as such, just give it a spring tidy — remove faded flowers and any old or damaged leaves. That’s it! Once it’s in, it’ll happily get on with the job.
Supplied in a 9cm pot for planting any time.
