Description

This charming, compact Aster (latin name Symphyotrichum) is covered in rich purple, daisy-like flowers with golden centres from late summer into autumn. Its tidy mound of deep-green foliage stays healthy and mildew-free throughout the season.

A fantastic border filler for late-season colour, Aster ‘Wood’s Purple’ is especially good for smaller gardens and containers. It attracts bees and butterflies in droves and provides a welcome splash of vibrant colour when most summer flowers are fading, to enliven the garden.

Grow Aster 'Wood's Purple' in full sun or light shade in moist, well-drained soil. It will grow in almost any location but prefers a sheltered position and reaches around 30–40cm tall and wide.

This variety is relatively low maintenance and resistant to mildew. Cut back to the ground after flowering in late autumn to maintain a compact shape, and divide every few years in spring to refresh older plants.

Supplied in a 9cm pot for planting at any time of year.
