The Dianthus Alpine Plant Collection features an interesting mixed selection of two types of Dianthus - Garden Pinks and Alpine Pinks.
This collection of 8 x 1L pots will be made up of a mixed selection of Garden Pinks and Alpine Pinks varieties:
Garden Pinks Garden Pinks are the most popular of the hybrid Dianthus with the prestigious RHS Award for Garden Merit being given to several varieties within this group for outstanding garden performance. Loved by people and adored by pollinators, Garden Pinks grow to around 35-45cm tall and are even suitable for use as cut flowers! Many varieties of Garden Pinks are also wonderfully fragrant adding to their already charming appeal.
Garden Pinks Varieties: Coconut Sundae, Coral Reef, Iced Gem, Raspberry Sundae, Romance, Slap n Tickle, Sugar Plum, Tickled Pink, Cherry Daiquiri, Cosmopolitan, Mojito, Shirley Temple and Tequila Sunrise.
Alpine Pinks These often scented Alpine Pinks are ideal for spring and autumn planting. They are much smaller than Garden Pinks only growing to an average height of 10cm. However, they are bright in colour with shades of pink, red and white and are often bi-coloured. They also bloom for an extended period of time as long as they are dead-headed regularly meaning you can enjoy months of flowering from these little wonders! Bees and other pollinators also adore them as they are an ideal long-term food source.
Alpine Pinks Varieties: Aztec Star, Blushing Star, Cherry Burst, Fire Star, Neon Star, Silver Star, Starburst, Stargazer, Starlette and Supernova.
All of the plants in our Dianthus collection prefer a well-drained soil and a sunny position. Both types of Pinks will benefit from regular dead-heading throughout the flowering season to encourage continued flower production.
Our Dianthus Alpine Collection offers great versatility with the taller Garden Pinks suited to beds and borders whilst the smaller Alpine Pinks are perfect for all types of pots, planters and baskets as well as rockeries or borders.
