Trellis Grown Screening Information
In a similar way to how pleached trees are created, Trellis grown screening plants are trained around a frame structure to grow as a flat screen. As the plant grows in a manipulated way, it forms a green screen which can be used to create partitions within an outdoor living space, or to cover up unsightly walls and views of dull grey buildings.
All of our Trellis Grown Screening are container grown, and depending on the size can either trough grown for larger plants, or pot grown for smaller plants. This means that like our container grown hedging plants, trellis grown screening can either be planted out into the ground, or re-potted into decorative pots or planters as a more modular garden screening option.
Species Information
The evergreen Star Jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides) is a beautiful shrub that is sure to look stunning in any garden. It has glossy green leaves, offset in summer by its delicate, white starry flowers that carry a divine fragrance. Star Jasmine can climb up a trellis or a wall with ease, forming an eye-catching 'living screen' effect. When trained as a climbing plant or as trellis grown screening, Star Jasmine can be expected to grow with an average spread of around 1.5m, so a planting distance of between 1 - 1.5m is recommended to give it enough space to thrive.
Happiest in warm, sunny and sheltered conditions, ideally in a south facing position, Star Jasmine can also grow and flower well in partial shade. It prefers moist but well-drained soils, and will thrive in most types of soil except clay which is too wet. Star Jasmine can experience root rot if the roots become waterlogged, therefore a free draining soil is essential

Each green living screen is easy to handle and the 180cm x 120cm panel for example, weighs around 35kg.
Installing a row of green screens is an easy DIY job, however if you wish you can ask a local landscaper to do this for you. You can buy suitable posts, metal or wood, from your local DIY store or builder's merchant along with metal brackets to fix the screens to the posts or to a wall. Your local store will be able to advise on appropriate fixings.
- Begin by digging a trench, 30cm wide and 40cm deep.
- Position the posts at 1.3m intervals (centre-centre), we recommend using concrete for increased stability however this is not essential
- Loosen the soil at the bottom of the trench and add water if it is dry (it's better to do this now than after the screens are planted).
- Mix in some general-purpose compost to the bottom of the trench (10 litres per metre of trench). We also recommend planting with Rootgrow, you can sprinkle this into the trench now.
- Plant the screens in the trenches, making sure the top of the biodegradable pot sits just below the surface level of the soil.
- Tighten all brackets (make sure none of the plants are squeezed by the brackets).
- Backfill and firm the soil gently.
- Water thoroughly directly to the base after planting.

Delivery Time - Please note that delivery times are currently 3-7 days excluding bank holidays. *Some troughs and trees may take up to 14 days delivery. We are working through existing orders as quickly as possible to deliver new orders within this timescale.

Nominated Day Delivery
Choose a delivery day that suits you with our new Nominated Day Delivery option at checkout. Whilst our standard no signature delivery means you don't need to take time away from other committments to receive your order, we understand that there are times our customers want to make sure they are present to accept delivery, either to plant straight away or to store somewhere safe and out of the way until you're ready to plant.
For an additional fee, you can make sure that your order arrives on the exact day you want it. Please note that this is additional charge to all qualifying orders, including those above the free delivery threshold for Standard Delivery.
Our Nominated Day Delivery is available year-round on the weekdays Tuesdays to Fridays, excluding the day after any bank holiday.
