Pleached Trees

Pleached trees is the name given to trees that have a very straight clear stem and a narrow framework of branches trained onto canes to create elevated leafy screens. The technique has been around for centuries and was traditionally a feature in more formal gardens; however, they’re still equally as popular today for a variety of garden types and styles and have adapted well to modern urban gardens along with having their place in more traditional settings.

This formal method of training trees produces stunning specimens that are favoured by top garden designers for adding architectural interest and height to a garden, dividing land into garden rooms, and providing privacy screening. Pleached trees have a unique style that boasts elegance while adding character to your garden space. Not only do they look stylish and provide an excellent privacy screen, they can also create some garden shade.

Hedges Direct has a variety of pleached trees available, including traditional deciduous such as pleached Hornbeam, pleached espalier, fresh pleached and mature pleached. Pleached Espalier is often seen with fruiting varieties such as pleached Lime. One of the many great benefits of pleached trees is that they’re available all year round.
