"Thought you might like an update as to the success (or otherwise) of the 'native' hedging which you kindly supplied during the the autumn of 2009. The fact is that Christine and I are over the moon at the success rate having planted out about half during the autumn then (due to bad weather) heeling-in the remainder until the followiing spring of 2010. We lost a few during the first summer due to water shortage and a few more this year, again for the same reason but remarkably, a few field maple which appeared to have curled up their toes, are starting new growth from the base. It pays to hold your nerve.
