Cell grown plants are an intermediate step between small bare root and small pot grown plants. They don't have the root development and stem bulk of plants grown in 2 Litre (or larger) pots, but on the other hand, they are inexpensive and in some species they are even less expensive than bare roots. They are suitable for planting into warm soils when roots are active , encouraging rapid establishment - so March, April, May, June, September and October are ideal months, although they can actually be planted throughout the summer as long as the roots are kept moist and throughout the winter providing the ground is not frozen. There's nothing to fear from cell grown plants - each year we sell over 100,000 of these plants with tremendous success.
Cell grown plants are supplied with roots intact (unlike bare roots) so there is no loss of the fine feeding roots and root hairs which often carry friendly fungi - as a result, they have a high success rate with good uniformity.

In this section we also have some species in P9's - these are small pots - bigger than a cell but not as big as our standard 2 litre pot (they measure 9cm). Again, hugely successful with masses of growth in the first few seasons so they are great value.
Prices are shown for individual plants, discounted packs of 30, 50 and 100 plants and we can give even bigger discounts for larger quantities, especially on quantities of over 500 plants. For large projects (eg forestry or woodlands) please ring us on 01257 263873 for a quote on wholesale rates.
Recommended planting density is 6 per metre in a double staggered row or 4 per metre in a single row. You might want to go with a higher density than this for Box (where eventually you want the plants to form a solid block). Min. quantity per species is 12.
